Organization Background 

United World Schools Nepal is a charity with the aim of providing quality education to children living in faraway rural villages of Nepal through modern teaching and learning methodology. Since its inception in late 2015, the organization has successfully constructed 46 schools in Sankhuwasabha and Gulmi district, thus enrolling and ensuring quality education to over 7000 children. In UWS Nepal-managed schools, the quality of education is maintained by formulating a need-based curriculum and introducing well-researched methodologies that allow for greater innovation in the classroom and greater engagement between the in-class lessons and real life. Further, UWS Nepal pro-actively invests in quality education for girls in marginalized communities to empower young women to create better prospects for their families and their futures. 

UWS Nepal builds schools, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities, and other infrastructure in the communities where it works. UWS Nepal has been implementing the school construction projects in 11 municipalities of Sankhuwasabha and Gulmi, with expected expansion to others in the coming year. Thus, UWS Nepal invites applications from eligible Nepali candidates for the following full-time position. 

Finance Associate Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Finance Associate (FA) to assist our Sr.Finance Officer with day-to-day financial procedures. 

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementing internal organizational and financial processes

  • Manage all invoices and prepare monthly reports in liaison with field offices

  • Managing payments to different vendors

  • Prepare bank reconciliations

  • Keeping records and documenting financial processes

  • Monthly salary and wages calculation

  • Assisting with the preparation of operating budgets, financial statements, and tax preparation

  • Verify authenticity of refund/dsa claims

  • Ensure accuracy of party ledgers; quarterly reconciliation and report

  • Communicate with other departments as well as field staff 

  • Developing in-depth knowledge of the organization and its processes

  • Supporting Sr. Finance Officer and executives when required

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, social sciences, or related field.

  • 2 - 3 years of operational and financial management experience.

  • Strong consultative and negotiation skills

  • Must be able to manage periodic field office visits as and when required by the organization

  • Ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders of the organization

  • Good analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills

  • Must have demonstrated ability to work in complex environments, work across different cultures, and manage diverse teams to deliver impact within agreed timelines

  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision
