Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Associate 

Duty Station: Kathmandu (with 20% travel to working districts)

Number of Position(s): 1 (one)

Opening Date: 17 December 2021

Closing Date: 31 December 2021

Performance Period: One-year contract with possible extension. The contract would be provided after satisfactory performance in a three months probation period.

Work Hours: Full-time; 40 hours per week


Organization Background

United World Schools Nepal is a charity with the aim of providing quality education to children living in faraway rural villages of Nepal through modern teaching and learning methodology. Since its inception in late 2015, the organization has successfully constructed 44 schools in Sankhuwasabha and Gulmi district, thus enrolling and ensuring quality education to over 7000 children. In UWS Nepal-managed schools, the quality of education is maintained by formulating a need-based curriculum and introducing well-researched methodologies that allow for greater innovation in the classroom and greater engagement between the in-class lessons and real life. Further, UWS Nepal pro-actively invests in quality education for girls in marginalized communities to empower young women to create better prospects for their families and their futures.  

UWS Nepal builds schools, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities, and other infrastructure in the communities where it works. UWS Nepal has been implementing the school construction projects in 11 municipalities of Sankhuwasabha and Gulmi, with expected expansion to others in the coming year. Thus, UWS Nepal invites applications from eligible Nepali candidates for the following full-time position.


Major duties and responsibilities 

  • Maintain all the documents and results of the project using the UWSN MEL framework.

  • Ensure timely collection and first-level analysis of project data.

  • Work closely with the field staff in data collection processes.

  • Assist in the management of evaluations and other assessment reports.

  • Learn, share and communicate with concerned stakeholders for greater impacts and visibility.

Knowledge and core competencies

We are looking for a successful, confident, and adventurous professional who is ambitious and willing to grow and develop with the organization. This means that above all, we are looking for someone who is adaptable, resilient, and open to learning new skills, and can take a proactive approach to new tasks and responsibilities. 

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in any field with some quantitative course components. 
  • A minimum of six months of demonstrated experience in the field of monitoring, evaluation, or project management preferably in educational projects.
  • Strong skills in report writing and documentation. Knowledge of Excel and/or logical frameworks will be a plus.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills (diplomacy, patience) with the ability to perform multiple tasks and work with people with varying technical skills.
  • Fluent in English and Nepali (speaking and writing).
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
