The UWS Nepal Fellowship Program, started in 2017, is a two-year long initiative aimed at improving the quality of education and addressing educational inequality in hard-to-reach and under-resourced communities of Nepal. The fellowship program offers Nepali youths an opportunity to gain experience as educators and in community action to make a real impact on the lives of children in hard-to-reach regions of Nepal.
The program aims to tackle the issues of substandard education environments in hard to reach regions by placing a trained UWS Fellow in UWS Nepal -aided community schools whilst providing an opportunity for young Nepali graduates to go through a transformative leadership development journey. Furthermore, beyond our primary objective of improving the quality of education, the fellowship program promotes cross-cultural exchange as fellows immerse themselves in the local culture while on their journey enriching the educational experience for both the fellows and the children they teach.
Objectives:
1. To enhance the quality of education in rural Nepal through modern teaching methodologies.
2. To foster collaborative connections between students, teachers, parents and community leaders to address common challenges.
3. To develop committed leaders to address educational inequality, by teaching in hard to reach and marginalized communities.
4. To improve the learning environment and life skills of rural children through innovative approaches.
