Position: National Inclusion Lead (Education)
Department: Education
Reports to: Head of Programmes
Location: Kathmandu (with 40% travel to working districts)
Duration: One-year fixed contract with possible extension. The contract would be provided after satisfactory performance in a three-month probation period.
Work Hours: Full-time; 40 hours per week

ROLE SUMMARY:
The National Inclusion Lead (Education) will drive the design, implementation, and monitoring of inclusive education initiatives within the UWS Nepal programs. This role ensures that education projects align with equity, inclusion, and quality principles as outlined in Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) and the Nepal School Education Sector Plan
2022/23 – 2031/32.
Deliverables:
The National Inclusion Lead (Education) will be responsible for the following activities and deliverables. They are expected to create a timeline and work plan in consultation with the head of Programmes.
Roles and responsibilities:
Inclusive Education Strategy and Implementation
● Lead the development and execution of strategies to enhance inclusive education across UWS Nepal’s project areas.
● Ensure that all educational programs are designed and implemented with a focus on inclusivity, particularly for marginalized and disadvantaged groups.
● Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate gender-responsive and inclusive practices into the education system.
Project Management and Coordination
● Oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of inclusive education activities.
● Develop project plans with clear timelines, milestones, and resource allocations focused on inclusivity.
● Provide regular updates to the Head of Programmes on the progress, challenges, and achievements related to inclusive education.
Capacity Building and Technical Support
● Build the capacity of project teams and municipal Education Officers in inclusive education practices.
● Provide training and ongoing support to ensure that teaching practices are inclusive and equitable.
● Foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team regarding inclusive education.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
● Coordinate with government officials, local communities, and other stakeholders to advocate for inclusive education policies and practices.
● Organize and facilitate meetings with stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of inclusive education.
● Represent UWS Nepal in relevant forums and networks focused on inclusive education.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
● Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks specifically focused on the impact of inclusive education initiatives.
● Collect, analyze, and report on data related to inclusivity and educational outcomes.
● Use findings to refine strategies and improve the effectiveness of inclusive education programs.
Documentation and Knowledge Management
● Document best practices, lessons learned, and key achievements in inclusive education.
● Contribute to the development of knowledge management systems that capture and share insights on inclusive education.
Safeguarding and Child Protection
● Ensure that safeguarding and child protection standards are integrated into all-inclusive education activities.
● Monitor and address any safeguarding concerns that arise in the context of inclusive education.
Other Responsibilities
● Support the Head of Programmes in project planning and budgeting related to inclusive education.
● Undertake any other duties as required to advance the goals of inclusive education within the organization.
Qualification and Experience Required:
● Master’s degree in Education, Inclusive Education, Special Education, or a related field.
● Minimum of 4 years of experience in implementing and managing inclusive education programs.
● Strong understanding of the educational landscape in Nepal, with specific expertise in inclusive and gender-responsive education.
● Proven experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy for inclusive education.
● Excellent project management, analytical, and communication skills.
● Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, M&E tools).
● Fluency in English and Nepali (both written and spoken).
